I was in the Kanata Staples Store yesterday admiring all the glittery pens, the pretty paper, and all those things that inspire, in me, a wonderful orderly universe. When, suddenly out of the corner of my eye, I saw beckoning, the Apple iPad Pro… the big one. Now I am a Blackberry girl from way back (yes, it is the keyboard), but I must confess that my heart gave a little extra thump when I saw that Apple iPad Pro…the big one. It was so shiny, so sleek, so light. I touched it. I lingered. I was smitten. Dragging myself back to the paper section I tried to focus on selecting my not-so-glittery pens and my not-so-pretty paper.
Despite being a Blackberry girl, I am also a techno-idiot and a luddite (…contradictions, I know). With the onslaught of technology in the Ottawa Real Estate world that is constantly bombarding us with new products and apps and marketing resources all the time, I was feeling extremely overwhelmed. I need my technological tools to be simple, efficient, mindless, so that I can focus on the business I love, that of buying & selling for my wonderful clients. My technology should not be holding me back. And it is. I decided to get smart and ask for help. With the first meeting with my new “Tech Guru Guy” it became quickly evident that I had made a number of bad technological decisions. For example I was using three different platforms: Microsoft, Android & Apple. Hmm…I didn’t even know what different platforms meant. You can imagine how the conversation with my “Tech Guru Guy” goes from here. And as an aside my “Tech Guru Guy” is a confirmed Apple aficionado. I wonder if that was a subconscious choice on my part, or not. Now that the Ottawa Real Estate Board and the MLS are supporting Apple, I see a shiny, sleek, light Apple iPad Pro …the big one, in my future. I am definitely smitten.
